1463054_10152221112163243_2035671984_nGold, Frankincense, Christmas Tree Ornaments, and Myrrh opens this week at the A.D. Players Theater in Houston.

The Wednesday and Thursday shows this week on 11/20 and 11/21 are considered "Preview Shows" so the tickets are only $15. That is cheaper than I can get group tickets for any of the other shows this season.

Since there is no extra price break for these shows, we are not collecting money and ordering tickets as a group. Instead, we are asking folks to just call the Box Office and order tickets for the Preview Shows directly.

Please call the Box Office at 713.526.2721 to order your tickets. The Box Office is open M, W, Th, F 9a-5p. Tuesdays 11:30a-5p.
Tickets can also be purchased online at the link below. Please note that there is a $2/ticket surcharge for online tickets.

EE Parent Steve Toth Endorsed by THSC for Texas Senate

We are passing this information on from THSC.
Steve Toth is one of our extraordinary EE parents!

THSC Endorses Representative Steve Toth for Texas Senate

Steve TothWhen conservatives rallied against the liberal incumbent in Texas House District 15 in 2012, they united overwhelmingly behind current State Representative Steve Toth. Representative Toth has since shown himself to be one of the most conservative members of the Texas House of Representatives. His dedication to the conservative principles for which he was elected can be illustrated clearly in the 95% conservative rating that he received from the highly respected conservative organization Texas Eagle Forum.

Tim Lambert, president of the Texas Home School Coalition Association, announced the Association’s support of Representative Toth for Texas senator in Senate District 4 when he said, “The Texas Home School Coalition fought hard for Representative Toth during his 2012 campaign for Texas House, and we fully intend to renew that effort as we support his campaign for Texas Senate in 2014. Conservatives may legitimately question the sincerity of many lawmakers in both the Texas Senate and the Texas House, but Representative Toth is one of the few whose allegiance is never in question. His dedication to Christian values and to the protection of our freedom in Texas is unwavering.”

“Gold, Frankincense, Christmas Tree Ornaments, and Myrrh” at the AD Players

Extraordinary Education graduate, Michael Eaton, is appearing in this year’s main-stage Christmas production at the AD Players Theater. The show opens November 20th with performances on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Sundays at 2:30pm.

We are trying to get a group together to go to one of the “preview nights” next week on Wednesday, November 20 and/or Thursday, November 21 at 7:30 pm. If interested in attending, please reply to eliseeaton@gmail.com. Cost will be around $17. Other group dates may be arranged in December.

Originally presented off-Broadway in 1964, this charming, novel play has been produced throughout the country ever since. This witty retelling of the nativity story, the boyhood of Christ, and his growing awareness of his destiny,  follows a fourth wiseman who completely misses the point. When a star appears in the sky, the wiseman and his servant set out to find the king whose birth has been foretold. Planning along the way how best to capitalize on the king's birth, they arrive in Bethlehem, but will the wiseman find what he is looking for?

Come find out, and experience again what Christmas is really about!

Tickets are $32 - 41 and may be purchased online at  www.adplayers.org, at the A. D. Players Box Office, 2710 W. Alabama, or by calling 713-526-2721.

Mock Trial Team–Looking for members!

4-000140aThe 2013-14 Extraordinary Education Mock Trial is seeking energetic and inquisitive high school students for this year’s team. This is a fun way to learn more about our legal system while also learning about logic, problem-solving and public speaking. It also looks great on a resume!

No prior mock trial, debate or public speaking experience is necessary.

The team will have its first team meeting on Thursday, November 14th, at EE from 5 to 9.

There will also be a Team Building Workshop on Friday-Saturday, November 15th-16th. This will be a key time for the team to dissect this year's case and get a jump-start on planning this year's strategies.
102_0475b
New members and those interested in finding out more about the team are encouraged to attend both events!

Contact Mrs. Ball today to learn how YOU can get involved in Mock Trial!

Please refer to the Team Info document for the new and improved co-op structure and sign up information. This team is not set up as a “class”. This is a “co-op” activity meaning that costs are minimal and each family is asked to help out with team activities, supervision, etc. Participants only pay for their portion of contest entry fees, team materials and copies, etc.
EEMockState2013bPlease let the sponsor, Maureen Ball, know if you interested in joining this year's Mock Trial Team as we explore Internet Defamation. Mrs. Ball's contact information is included below.

From the Texas High School Mock Trial Association website:
Thousands of high school students from across the state participate each year in this highly motivating, energetic, and challenging academic competition! The program provides a great way for students to gain an “insider’s view” of our judicial system, plus, they gain confidence speaking in front of others and have a lot of fun at the same time. The competition is open to all high school students - public, private and homeschool. Former participants say that the benefits of preparation and participation in the mock trial program are well worth the time and effort spent.
Looking forward to working this year's team!

Robotics Team Gearing Up for Regionals

100_2823Congratulations to all of the hard working youth, parents and coaches of our extraordinary BEST Robotics team for winning three different awards at the North Houston BEST Hub Competition. The contest took place on Saturday, October 19, at The Woodlands College Park High School with a total of 15 teams competing.

Time Dragon at Demo Day 1The EE team, competing as The Woodlands Homeschoolers, won the Founders Award for creative design for our Team Robot, the 3rd Place Award for Robot Performance, and the 1st Place BEST Award for best overall team performance. We were close to winning 1st in Robot Performance; we were shy by just two small dowels (NAND gates). This is a terrific performance for our team - the best performance in many years.

Time Dragon CAD 1The Founders Award recognizes our Technology Team's creative use of gears in our team robot. Indeed, no other team utilized gears to the level of sophistication as we. Great work Technology Team!

100_2798The youth showed respect, wholesomeness and enthusiasm in projecting Spirit and Sportsmanship during the competition. Several youth demonstrated remarkable energy in leading spirit activities, such as running as a group around the course holding our team sign throughout the day. The Notebook, Display and Presentation Teams also did well. The Presentation Team earned 249 out of 250 possible points and achieved this after only three full-team rehearsals.

College Plus Info Meeting

Passing this on from a local parent who is organizing this event.

Dear Home School Parents,

Once again, I am bringing out Woody Robertson from College Plus to meet with those of us who would like to learn more about the College Plus plan and what it involves. I receive no special benefits or remuneration for this event. My desire is to bring this information to you and also to be able to ask more question face to face myself before we venture down this path in January.

Jana Harper has assisted me with securing the facilities - Crossroads Baptist Church- where we will meet and greet Woody Tuesday, November 12 at 5:45 p.m. and begin at 6:00 p.m. It would be helpful for you to go to the website and research a little about it first so you can better prepare your questions. It is overwhelming at first - but the testimonies are amazing and the price is unbeatable. Also - they have added several majors and several partner universities (including Liberty University) since last we met. They utilize online classes, CLEP testing, and more to quickly earn a bachelor degree - some finish in as little as two years. Website: www.collegeplus.org

This program is Christian Worldview and mentored by like minded homeschool graduates and parents. Their goal is to help you seek the best path for your interests and to facilitate your journey quickly and efficiently. They also offer College Prep - which is for younger students. Dual credit is in the mix as well.

This event is open to all interested families. Please spread the word. There will be a free registration to do online prior to the event. Send me an email at director@singandrejoice.com and I will keep you posted. Last year we had about 50 people attend so get your name in the hat early!

Bari Brumfield
