EE Scholarship Fund
EE Update
Many have asked about how the EE campus fared during the floods. Thankfully, the Lord spared us, and we did not get any storm water in the buildings. We do still have other construction and repairs to complete from the plumbing leaks that happened the week before school started. We are hopeful that situation can be repaired quickly so that our contractors can move on to help Harvey victims.
We know of at least two teachers who got water in their homes. We do not have any information about other affected families, but we have received have MANY offers of help from our families. If your family was affected, please let us know! You can send a message to office@extraed.org . We have many people who very much want to help wherever it is needed.
We are praying for all who are affected. God bless Houston!
Classes cancelled through September 4th
This is just a reminder that we have decided to cancel classes for the remainder of the week. We will return on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th.
If your family has been affected by the flooding or has needs that our EE families can help fill, please send a message to office@extraed.org. Other EE families are eager to help!
Please note that enrolled families should have received a notification about class cancelations via email and text message. If you did not receive a message, please check your spam folder and update your email settings to allow messages from our mailing system. Please also remember to update your text notification settings. All of the instructions are included in your Parent Orientation course.
Some of your child's teachers may send home assignments to be completed this week. If you have the means to do so, this might help keep your kids occupied. :-) Be looking for those emails separately.
Stay safe and dry, and let us know of any needs we can help with!

Greece Trip June 2018–Info Meeting Aug 22
WE HAVE GREAT NEWS!!! WE WILL NOW BE TRAVELING TO GREECE “IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF PAUL” FROM JUNE 20-30, 2018, and you're all invited to join us!!!
An informational meeting for our trip to Greece/Turkey will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 5:00 PM* in the Passion Vine room on the Extraordinary Education campus. In order to get $200 off of the trip cost and be guaranteed $600 off of the airfare and a spot on the tour, you must enroll with Renee Campbell no later than November 25th, so if you can't come to this meeting, but want to travel with us, please see the note at the end of this email for additional information.
*Free backpacks are available for those who attend the meeting on Tuesday!
This eleven day trip will take you to the famous sites of Ancient Greece (Athens, Delphi, Thermopylae, etc.), includes travel on a cruise ship in the Aegean Sea that stops at three different islands (one per day), then pops on over to Turkey for a little visit, and explores the cities and towns related to the Apostle Paul's journey to spread Christianity (like Corinth, Philippi, Thessaloniki, etc.), all while making memories that will truly last a lifetime!
I've chosen a new travel company for this trip (same basic costs but better meals -- with three entree choices for dinner, better hotels, they carry your luggage to and from your room for you, headsets for all, and more) and with that comes the ability for families to travel together, no matter the age of the children (although I still wouldn't recommend these types of trips for any child under the age of ten.) All adults ages 18 and up are welcome to travel with us with no restrictions; teens aged 16 & 17 can travel without their own parent if they have a "surrogate/chaperone" parent (which, with permission, could be me or another adult) traveling with them.
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting, answering questions in person or via email, and sharing a fabulous traveling experience with you all!
Renee Campbell

DUAL CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP
As an amazing bonus for passing a LetU dual credit course, the university is offering an outstanding scholarship opportunity. The LetU Dual Credit Scholarship offers students $16,000 PER YEAR for up to 4 years if they take and pass one LetU dual credit class!
http://www.letu.edu/opencms/opencms/_Admissions/dualcredit/scholarship.html
HOMESCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
In addition to the Dual Credit Scholarship, LetU offers a stackable Homeschool Scholarship of up to $3,000/year.
http://www.letu.edu/opencms/opencms/_Admissions/financial-aid/types-of-aid/letu/home-school-endowed-scholarship.html
The two scholarships together bring the cost to attend this highly respected Christian university down to a very reasonable level. Even more exciting is that these scholarships are attainable by an average student!
CLASS DETAILS:
While our EE-LetU dual credit classes do not offer "free" tuition, the trade-offs when compared to other local dual credit options are significant.
- A distinctly Christian course from a Christian university
- In-person classes on a homeschool friendly campus
- Very small class size with similar age students
- Credit from a university rather than a community college
- The chance to qualify for a significant scholarship
$270/course Tuition (payable to LetU)
$225/course Facility Fee (payable to EE)
As a comparison, similar HBU Academy classes are $1,000/year for 3 hours of credit.

GET STARTED!
If you are ready to get started with one of these LetU dual credit classes this fall or with one of our Lone Star dual credit classes including Chemistry or College Algebra, please complete the interest form at the link below to get on the mailing list. We will be hosting a series of meetings where you can get more information and get paperwork together to send in to LetU and/or Lone Star.

Something Fishy - Super Cute Art
Instructor: Renee Campbell
Camp Description: This one day workshop will bring out the creative kid in all who participate and they will leave with the cutest wall or table art imaginable! These "fishy" projects are based on art I saw while in Asheville, NC -- and will be every bit as lovable, but at a fraction of the cost. You will need to supply as many unusual small/smallish items as possible to be wired onto a racquet that I will supply. You may come up with a theme (like toys, or game pieces from old fashioned games, or a kitchen fish, or a bathroom fish, etc.) or no theme at all. Either way, you will want to collect as many miscellaneous items as you can find....old keys, film canisters, marbles, Lego pieces, wheels, metal band-aid boxes, a loose measuring spoon, an old screwdriver.....anything small/smallish may work! (Now you know what to do with all of those parts and pieces and leftover "whatevers" that you were afraid to throw away...send them to us, please!). You will also need to bring a sack lunch, please. Snacks will be served, so if your child has food allergies, please let me know.
Camp Date: June 28
Grade/Age Range: 10-18 (ages 7-9 may attend if parent stays with them)
Camp Schedule: Wednesday/11am-4pm
Camp Cost: $69/camper
Email for more information/registration: rcampbell@extraed.org
Denim Daze
Instructor: Renee Campbell
Camp Description: This one day workshop will put you in a blue daze -- but in a good way! Participants will have the option to choose from the following projects (and more): create a purse from blue jean shorts, pocket sized magnetized holders for lockers/refrigerators/etc, tissue box covers, pencil holders, pot holders, skirts, pillows, water bottle holders, etc. If you choose to make a purse or water bottle holder, please bring something to use for a strap. Examples include: old belts, twill type ribbon, braided string or shoelaces, an old tie, metal chain (from a craft store, not your bicycle!), rope, etc. Also, if you have any particular patches that you'd like to add to your project, please bring those as well. All participants will need to bring a sack lunch, please. Snacks will be provided, so if your child has food allergies, please let me know.
Camp Date: June 29th
Grade/Age Range: 10-adult
Camp Schedule: Thursday/11am-4pm
Camp Cost: $69/camper
Email for more information/registration: rcampbell@extraed.org
Clip’n Snip Tees + Zumba
Instructor: Renee Campbell
Camp Description: This one day workshop combines the fun of putting your own special spin on a tee shirt (or two or three) and then wearing it as you show off your moves (or just move!) in a zany Zumba class geared for all! Participants will design and then cut patterns into old tee shirts to create new ones, so if you have any old tees that you were going to get rid of, this is a great way to recycle them....and maybe even get some more use out of them as new workout shirts.....either way, it's fun, fun, fun! Please bring a sack lunch, some extra water, and maybe even a towel to pat your glistening self with after Zumba. Dress comfortably as I will teach some of the dance moves in an easy to learn manner....and then we'll all just go for it! Snacks will be provided, so if your child has food allergies, please let me know.
Camp Date: June 30
Grade/Age Range: 10-adult (ages 7-9 may attend if parent stays with them)
