Talent Show Auditions! “T3: Taters, Talent & Treats”

Mark Your Calendars so you won’t miss this exciting, fun-filled family event!

“T3: Taters, Talent, and Treats” is coming on Friday, April 5, 2013 to our campus or a location near EE!!!!

We will have lots of family style fun at this year’s fundraiser including a baked potato supper, a cake decorating contest, a talent show, and a silent auction

Students:  If you are interested in auditioning for the Talent Show then you must sign up with Mrs. Campbell for auditions to be held on Tuesday, February 5th; Wednesday, February 6th; and Thursday, February 7th (or by special appointment) in the afternoons.  Various time slots are available.  The guidelines for auditioning are as follows:

1) Mrs. Campbell will have final approval over the content (including music) and costumes employed in your act.

2) I am looking for all sorts of interesting talent so don’t be afraid to come and audition!  The talent show will be part of a “play” I’ve written so we need singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, comedy acts, unusual talents, actors, etc.

3) We have three speaking roles designated for students in the sixth grade or above, so actors are welcome to audition, too!  I need at least one of the actors to be able to sing or dance….

4) No lip syncing will be allowed unless it’s part of a comedic act!

5) We have a small electronic keyboard at EE available for the audition, but you are also encouraged to video tape yourself playing and put it on a flash drive or a CD so that I can see/hear your audition. Depending on where the fundraiser is held will determine what type of piano we will have available for the show.

6) Bands should video tape themselves and put it on a flash drive or CD so that I can see/hear your audition, please.

7) I will choreograph a G-rated dance number “a la High School Musical” style, so you may audition for just that part of the show if you wish.  You should come prepared with music and a minute or two of your style of dance to show me, please.  I will have a CD player available for use.

8) Auditions are limited to three minutes each.

9) All who are cast in the show will be required to attend at least three rehearsals – two are tentatively scheduled for the last week of March and one in the week before the show.  Dancers will have to attend two extra rehearsals….tentatively scheduled for the last week in February.

Parents:  If you have any items you would like to donate for the silent auction, please drop them off in Mrs. Campbell/Mrs. Phillips classroom (in the north portable building -- first room on the right).  If you would like to volunteer to help with the activities associated with “T3” then please let me know that as well.  I have a teacher mailbox near the lockers that will be a good way to communicate with me at this point.   Thank you!!!

I’m looking forward to a fun evening with you, your families, and your friends!

Pearl 2013 Student Art Contest

I am passing on this information about an art contest in our area. Our art teacher, Ms. Linda, is sure to be sending entries from our Extraordinary Education students, and I believe homeschoolers can enter independently as private schools as well. So get your art work completed and sent in!

Dear Private School Educator,

The Pearl's 2013 Student Art Contest is rapidly approaching. This is just a reminder that your entries (no more than 20 per school) should be submitted March 25-27 by an appointment with me. No entry fees are required again this year.

Please do not submit more than one entry per student; no electronically altered works; no collage extending more than 1/2 inch. All works on paper should be matted, and no larger than 18x24 (not including matting). Works on canvas boards or stretched canvas do not need to be matted. No frames, please. New this year: Entries no longer need to remain anonymous and unsigned. The Pearl hires independent jurors usually from outside the contest area and the chance for conflict of interest is rare. It's disappointing for us to reject entries once they reach the Pearl. For more information, contact me or consult the Pearl website www.pearlmfa.org

I'm looking forward to seeing your students' remarkable art work!

Best regards,
Sylvia deHek

TEXAS REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR

This is not an EE-specific event, but it is a great opportunity that is available in our area. We are passing on the information so families can participate if they choose.

It is time to take science back!! It was created by God for God and science provides us with a window to look through to learn more about the power, majesty, and creativity of our God! Make this the year you go from “meaning to” to “doing!” Don’t miss out!

Join us this year on April 6, 2013 at Tomball College Beckendorf Conference Center! Take on the challenge of diving deeper into science while also having a chance to be awarded great prizes. This will be ICARE’s 17th year to host the fair!

This past year, God once again made provision that allowed our 5 Grand Champions to receive $100 savings bonds and our 5 Reserve Grand Champions to receive $50 bonds, as well as science related gifts through donations from ICARE, CACHE, and Heritage Christian Homeschool support groups along with Gateway Christian Fellowship church.

Every student is recognized in our program, earns a ribbon, and receives a gift pack. These were made possible in 2012 through donations from individual sponsors that are choosing to remain anonymous along with Chick-fil-A. We look forward to additional sponsors who choose to help make this fair possible! If you or your company are interested in being a sponsor, please contact us at the email below.

Keep updated at www.texasregionalsciencefair.com or contact Karen Garza at texasregionalsciencefair@yahoo.com.

Fees: $15 per exhibitor, teams limited to 2 students

Registration deadline: Friday, March 01, 2013

NOTE on REGISTRATION: Each year we receive late registrations that make it difficult for our volunteer team, but we don’t want any student to be left out, so this year late registrations fees are $20 per exhibitor and will not be accepted after March 08, so please plan accordingly.

Oratory Contest/Scholarships

Come express your pro-life beliefs through the Montgomery County Right to Life Oratory Contest and compete to win scholarship money!   First prize is $1000 along with an all expense paid trip to compete in the National Right to Life Contest to be held in Dallas, June 29.  Second prize is $500 and third prize is $250.   All winners will also receive a 50% discount off the registration fee for REveAL and REveAL2, Texas Right to Life's pro-life summer camps.

Any area high school junior or senior is eligible to participate.  Students do not need to reside in Montgomery County.  Students are to research, write, and present a 5-7 minute speech on abortion, euthanasia, infanticide, or stem cell research.  This is a wonderful opportunity to think about and articulate your beliefs!  Homeschoolers have won the MCRTL contest the last five years.

The event is scheduled for February 23 with a 9 am check-in time. The contest will be held at Conroe Bible Church  4491 I-45  Conroe, 77304.  The registration deadline is Feb. 18, 2013. For further information or to obtain an entry form please visit our website at mcrtlife.com  or contact Teresa Strack at  mcrtlife@gmail.com or  281-900-8209.
