Block Walking Opportunity for Ted Seago

Please note that Extraordinary Education does not endorse candidates. This information is being provided via the Texas Home School Coalition. All students and parents are encouraged to learn about the candidates and issues and help make a difference by getting involved in their community.

The THSC Rangers program is initiating a block walk campaign for home school dad and TX State House Candidate Ted Seago. Dr Seago is a home school dad from the Conroe area running for TX State Rep in House District 16, and he is in dire need of home schoolers who will turn out in force to support his campaign before the May 27th Runoff Election!

Block walkers will be paid at a rate of $0.50 per house. (This adds up quickly, with most walkers getting between $50-150 each Saturday.) Block walkers will meet at Panera Bread at 1302 W Davis St Conroe, TX 77304 at 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm every Saturday until the Runoff election on May 27. Each walker will be given a snack and drink to take with them.

Ideally, each walker is respectful, mindful of the door (put flyer only on the glass), speaks knowledgeably about the candidate if asked a question, and tries to engage with the homeowner rather than just putting the push card on the door and hurrying off to the next house. Ted does not want anyone bashing the opponent and no one is allowed to pull opponent signs out of yards. Dress is casual but not wrinkled.

A coordinator position pays $10 an hour. He/she can clock hours at home or away that they accrued. That would include calls and paperwork. They will need to try and get a count and time slot before each Saturday and be at Panera by 9:30am to meet with Ted Seago and get walk lists.

Please contact Tristan Amaya with any questions at

Please complete the form below to sign up to be a block walker with the THSC Rangers Ted Seago Block Walk.

Senator Ted Cruz to Speak at HBU 5/2

Faith & Freedom in the Public Square
An Evening w/ Senator Ted Cruz, Dr. Robert Sloan and Dr. Marvin Olasky

Fri, 05/02/2014 07:30 PM
Houston Baptist University - Dunham Theater
General Admission - $20 + Fee
VIP Admission - $100 + Fee
Get Tickets: https://tix.extremetix.com/Online/?siteID=2288

On the evening of Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 PM - on the campus of Houston Baptist University - Dr. Robert Sloan (President, HBU) will be joined on stage by journalist Dr. Marvin Olasky and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz for a candid conversation on the topic of "Faith and Freedom in the Public Square."

We live in trying times. Those of us who take belief in the God of the Bible seriously feel burdened by the problems that arise in our increasingly secular society. People are abandoning truth, Western culture is failing, and the previously distinct lines between right and wrong are becoming irrevocably blurred.

This event gives you the chance to hear three prominent voices in the public square - an educator, a journalist, and an elected representative of the state of Texas - engaging in an open, honest and meaningful dialogue about the spiritual and cultural challenges we face as a nation. This is about asking and answering tough questions in a God-honoring and purposeful way.

This unique dialogue among the speakers, and between the speakers and the audience, will be facilitated by Warren Cole Smith of World Magazine, and hosted by the Center for Law and Liberty at HBU.

Tickets are $20 for General Admission seating, and a limited number of $100 VIP Reserved seating (which includes admittance to a catered pre-show VIP reception with the speakers that begins at 6:45 pm).

EE Open House & Fall Preview–THURS 4/24

Come on out and see what’s going on at Extraordinary Education this summer and next fall!

Meet the Teacher & Open House Events
• THURSDAY, APRIL 24th
• WEDNESDAY, MAY 7th

Make your plans now to attend one of these informative events and be sure to bring a friend! All families both old and new are invited to come out and talk with teachers about their fall classes and summer camps. Find out about curriculum, workload expectations, course objectives and more. Registration will be available at these events.

Teachers will be set up with displays and information in the “large” portable from 6:30-8:30pm. This is a 'come and go' style event. Teachers will have tables set up with information about their classes, and parents can walk around and talk with teachers one on one. This time is offered for ALL parents to speak with teachers and ask questions about their classes and camps. Children are welcome, but they must stay with a parent at all times.

A New Family Overview will also take place from 7:00-8:00 pm in another classroom across the deck. This meeting is offered to help new families understand how our program works and to answer common questions. The New Family Overview is designed to provide an introduction of the Extraordinary Education program for families who are new to EE. All families who plan to enroll in CORE classes are expected to attend a New Family Overview.

Please note that "Open House" at EE is a bit different than at a traditional school. This is an opportunity for families to view the campus and talk with teachers in an informal atmosphere. Several Fall Preview/Open House events are planned to help families get ready for the 2014-2015 school year. These events are designed to allow parents and students to meet the teachers, gather information about their classes and ask questions to help them determine the best classes for their needs.

Playground Project Complete!

IMG_20140418_140145Special thanks are in order for Ion Powell, Todd Powell (his dad), and scouts from BSA Troop 1945 for completing our playground project! This effort was Ion’s Eagle Scout project, and it was a major requirement needed to complete this special achievement.

IMG_20140418_141405As you may have noticed while driving on the campus this week, the playground now has an expertly installed wooden border filled with several inches of cushioning playground mulch. Prior to installation of the border, Ion and several of our EE students also spread a load of dirt to level the ground and alleviate flooding and standing water problems around the playground structure.

Playground2In addition to the final border and mulch, other volunteers have contributed significantly to the completion of the playground project. Mr. Chuck Venezia (Zoe & Tristan’s dad) along with Chris Walker, Michael and Jason Eaton (Elise Eaton’s sons) and several other volunteers helped with moving the play set from it’s original location and reconstructing the deteriorated and broken sections. Then Sheila Warrick (Christian, Jonathan and Caroline’s mom) singlehandedly repainted the entire structure over a period of several months.

The playground has been in the process of being relocated and refurbished for over a year. It has taken a great deal of time, energy and money to complete this project. Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time as well as all those who have contributed funds through our silent auctions and other fundraisers during the past two years. These events have provided the funding necessary to complete this effort.

Ethan photoEthan Schultz, a student of EE and HBU Academy, will be receiving his Eagle Scout Award this Saturday, April 26 at a special Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Ethan is a scout with Troop 533 in Cypress, Texas.

To earn the Eagle Scout rank, the highest advancement rank in Scouting, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. Only 5% of boys who enter scouting achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Ethan’s Eagle Scout Project benefited the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Departments K-9 Search and Rescue Team. The project consisted of refurbishing and making new bark barrels as part of a FEMA Directability training course.

Come see your homeschool friends in a movie!

Magic Fire Productions is pleased to announce the premiere of their award winning film, Pilgrim's Progress 2 - a classic Christian allegory by John Bunyan. This student film will show at Spring Creek Baptist church on Rayford Rd. Thursday night May 8 at 6:45 p.m. The Woodlands Home School Choirs will also sing a few selections to round out the evening. PP2 won runner-up to the winner of the Young Filmmaker Category at the Christian Worldview Film Festival in San Antonio last month.

PP2-cPilgrim's Progress 2 was filmed on locations around Houston, and was directed, filmed, edited, acted, scored and scripted by home schoolers. The movie features a family walking the King's Highway and encountering Satan's snares along the way to Celestial City. They meet friends and enemies taking the form of warriors, servants, giants, and evil forces.

PP2-bThis is a family film - but some themes may not be suitable for younger children. The trailer contains the subject matter and can be utilized for making an educated decision for your family members. The material is true to the book including the beheading of 3 giants and the confrontation of a temptress. This content is not gratuitous or glamorized and we feel it is handled correctly. It would not have been a Christian festival contender if these boundaries were crossed.

PP2-aFamiliar families in the cast are: Brumfield, Butchee, Ramsey, Hill, Nimmons, Perkins, Langkamp, Holder, Young, Burmaster, Stump, Rice, Pilgrim, Williams, Spake, Eaton, Roberts, Wheeler, Downham, Brown, and more.

We would love for you to see our film!
