Beauty and the Beast at HFAC - May 26

From: Molly McCoy <mgmccoy16@yahoo.com>

Come see Houston Family Arts Center's Beauty and the Beast!

I will be performing as Belle in a student production of Beauty & the Beast Jr. on Saturday, May 26, at the HFAC theater at 10760 Grant Road, Houston 77070 (between Jones and Perry). Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased online at http://hfacacademy.com/tickets/batb7-12.html

One of the best known classics, Beauty and the Beast is a tale of the brainy and beautiful Belle – who yearns to escape her provincial life...and her brute of a suitor, Gaston. However, Belle gets more adventure than she wanted when she becomes a captive in the Beast's enchanted castle! Dancing flatware, menacing wolves, and singing furniture fill the stage with thrills in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr. a beloved fairy tale about very different people finding strength in one another and learning how to love.

It's a great production for the entire family to come and see! You do not wanna miss it.

Global Elementary Model UN - Delegates needed!

Our Model UN Team at EE is looking for a few last minute replacements
for some students who are unable to go to the GEMUN conference next
week. If you have been thinking about Model UN or even speech or debate
for next year, this would be a great time to check it out!

The conference will take place in Fort Worth on Friday-Saturday, May
11th-12th. The resolutions are already written - which is the hard part!
All your student needs to do is attend the conference, read their
resolution and have fun. Rest assured that Mrs. Brisack will be able to
fill you in on all the details. ;-)

These are the spots that are currently available:

One "Team Russia" spot open:
"General Assembly" - with a great resolution to present. Should be a
very mature 7th or 8th grader since it is a large committee.

Two "Team Ukraine" positions:
"UNICEF Committee" and "ECOSOC Committee" - These can be any age and boy
or girl (4th-8th). These committees will be smaller so maturity is not a
strong factor.

Please contact Mrs. Brisack with any questions or to volunteer your child!
The only cost at this point is travel expenses, motel and food.

GEMUN Information:
http://www.unol.org/gemun/index.html

Global Elementary Model United Nations is what the name implies --
elementary (and middle school) students role-playing the assemblies of
the United Nations! This enriching, exciting opportunity has been
available in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.A. since 1990.

GEMUN is an excellent hands-on approach to learning in a global context.
By role-playing delegates to the United Nations, young people from
varied backgrounds learn about other countries, cultures and
international relationships, while developing a global perspective on
real issues confronting the world community today, and acquiring many
transferable skills.

During the school year, elementary and middle school children and their
sponsors receive help through workshops and printed materials. This
preparation will culminate in a two-day Model United Nations session.

Students immensely enjoy the collegiate setting while participating in
GEMUN. Due to the authentic nature of the material and assignments, they
see direct application of the information to their daily lives, the
problems in the world and their surrounding environment.

TKD Winners!

Congratulations to EE’s competitors (Peoples TKD Program): Ethan Bauder, Jack Alderson, Claire Alderson, Caden Alderson, Cruz Suarez, Grant ...
