and real life application? Does your student have an interest in drama
or debate? Join our Mock Trial team as we explore the American Legal
System by participating as an attorney and/or witness in a civil case.
Looks great on college applications as an extracurricular activity!
This event is sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association and more details
can be learned here:
http://www.regonline.com/builder/site/Default.aspx?EventID=1002261
On February 4th our team competes in Huntsville, Texas and will present
the civil case as plaintiff and defendant - so both sides of the case
are examined as we prepare for the competition. Remember this is only a
one month commitment.
During January on Friday mornings workshops to prepare will be held at
Extraordinary Education. http://www.extraed.net
Other times will be announced when our final team is formed. Not all
meetings are mandatory but team members need to set aside time to focus
this month on preparation for the Feb. 4th event and time to work via
phone or Internet with their partner (attorney/witness).
Fees: Joining EE under the family membership $25.00 and registration fee
and other material for event will be divided between team members.
Total estimate $75.00. EE also offers a "class" and while helpful that
is not required for participation in only Mock Trial at this time. (The
class offered at EE prepares students for a wide range of
extracurricular activities - Model UN, Mock Trial, etc..)
Our high school Mock Trial team is looking for three more members and a
timer so please contact me asap if your student is interested. (Contact
information below.) Team members for this event must be high school age.
Please share this email with other friends who have high school students.
