Classes Resume Wednesday 1/29

Classes will resume on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29.

Our policy is to follow the school district closings nearest to the EE campus. Those districts include Conroe ISD, Tomball ISD and Magnolia ISD. At this time, none of those districts have cancelled classes. If any of those districts do cancel between now and tomorrow morning, we will do the same.

Several other extraordinary students also contributed to this year’s project.  Additional team members included Josh Cook, Alek Cox and Ion Powell. Adult team members included Todd Powell, who served as the team’s Engineer Mentor, and Elise Eaton, who served as the team’s Teacher/Coach.

Future City 007To prepare for competition, the team had to complete a series of four challenges with each challenge counting as a portion of the total score. Challenges included creating a virtual city using SimCity software, writing a research essay and city narrative, constructing a model city from recycled materials and developing an oral presentation for the judges. This year’s theme and research topic was “Tomorrow’s Transit: Design A Way To Move People In And Around Your City.”

Acquire the Fire–Tickets available!

Our church youth group is attending Acquire the Fire this coming weekend, January 17-18
They had pre-bought a block of tickets a while back, but now they don’t have enough people to use them all. http://acquirethefire.com/houston/

Our youth leader has some extra tickets (about 15) so if you know a youth group that needs more, have them call Terry Rowe at 281-853-5260.

If you would like to go with our youth group, please contact Terry as well. The group is planning to leave around 5pm on Friday from The Woodlands area and stay in a hotel on the south side of Houston. They will be back about midnight on Saturday.

Cost to go with our group is $60 per person which includes room, gas, and ticket to the event. Teens will also need money for food, snacks and souvenirs.

Final arrangements will be made by noon Tuesday. So Terry would need to hear from you by then if you want to go with our church group. I believe you can also just get the tickets from him for $35 and go on your own.

soccer_player_bouncing_ball_md_whtWe’re adding new classes to our spring line-up! Since we are adding these classes kind of late, we will keep enrollment open until the end of January and tuition will be prorated according to your first day of attendance. If the minimum enrollment is not met by the end of the month we will drop them from the schedule.

Boys Sports & Games
TUES/THUR 4:30-5:30
Ages: 6th-12th
Teacher: Patrick Ruggles
Boys Sports & Games will be offered two days per week.
Minimum enrollment: 4 students

Both groups will spend time playing mainstream sports like football, basketball, and soccer. Other areas of sports and fitness will also be included like kickball, capture-the-flag, running, stretching, and nutrition. Sports are great in that they can improve both the physical and mental well being of a child. This class may also help your child find a sport that they are interested in. Please dress appropriately, wear proper shoes, and bring water. A healthy snack before and after the class is always recommended.
The instructor is a recent A&M graduate who will be heading to medical school next fall. He has a keen interest in sports and fitness.

We are working to get these classes added to ClassJuggler. Please let Amy know if you are having any difficulty registering.
