Extraordinary EARLY Robotics Results!

Gearhead sharks logoThe Extraordinary Education Gearhead Sharks robotics team, led by coach Todd Powell, competed in the Spring 2013 EARLY Contest on Saturday, May 18th. EE was able to enter three sub-teams in this event, and there were 50 teams competing. The most ever!

Two of our EE teams made it to the “Elite Eight” round of Finals (top 8 out of 50!) The RED Sharks team ended up placing 3rd overall and the GOLD Sharks team placed 8th.  The BLUE Sharks team was eliminated in the first round of finals and placed 30th overall. This was a great showing for our young robot engineers considering very few team members had ever even been to a robotics competition before.

Early Robotics Competition 2013-05-18 188Extraordinary Education also received one trophy for the school as a whole. It is the “Extraordinary Team” award and is presented for extraordinary efforts in helping other teams and generally promoting engineering and robotics.

Engineering And Robotics Learned Young (EARLY) is a program that exposes youth to engineering. EARLY provides 7 to 12 year olds the opportunity to participate in a robotics competition every fall and spring. Please visit the EARLY website for more information about the program.

God and Reason Summer Camp

book-stackChristians today have acquired a bad reputation, intellectually. But we Christians, above all others, have a tradition of truth-seeking, strong minded, women and men earning their place at the cultural table. In order to inherit that legacy, we need to participate in it. In this intensive week-long class, you will get the opportunity to do just that. From St. Paul in Athens in Acts 17 and continuing until modern writers, we will cover the major reasons for and philosophic foundations of Christian thought. This special class will take place three times and in three locations this Summer. Email TheAcademy@hbu.edu to reserve your spot, or register here.
